The RIAS represents a very large proportion of users of the planning system, acting as agents for developers and public bodies. Chartered Architects act at the forward end of the development process, and guide clients through the planning system. In this key role, the RIAS have found it a duty to engage at first hand with the consultation process which has brought the Planning Bill to the present stage of discussion with the Scottish Parliament. That consultation process, through the RIAS Planning Committee has had representatives at all the major consultations, and had input from RIAS practitioners involved in design led planning initiatives.
