The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has awarded RIAS Secretary, Neil Baxter, its Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his "enormous contribution to architecture".
Past recipients of RIBA Honorary Fellowships include Sir Terence Conran, Dame Vivien Duffield DBE, Thomas Heatherwick, Anish Kapoor, Sasha Lubetkin, Richard Sennett, Sir Nicholas Serota, Paul Smith, Ai Weiwei and Alan Yentob.
RIAS President, Willie Watt, commented:
"Since Neil Baxter re-joined the RIAS, eight years ago, as our CEO, the Incorporation's service to our members has never been better. The organisation's influence and public standing have also never been greater. The Festival of Architecture has engaged communities throughout Scotland with architecture like never before - and audience numbers will soon top one million. Neil deserves huge credit and this tremendous and well-deserved honour by our sister Institute, recognises both his own achievements and the Incorporation's continuing endeavours in support of the profession Neil serves with such vision and dedication."
