Commissioned by Scottish Canals, these camping bothies are sited in clusters at selected locations along the Caledonian Canal. The bothies are inspired by the box beds used in highland craft houses, micro-rooms containing just the bed, with vertical sides, a lid and wooden doors. Designed around the optimum size and weight parameters for road haulage, each bothy's simple form is disrupted by a pitched roof with a diagonal ridge. The charred Scottish larch timber cladding is detailed with semi concealed gutters and aluminium trims giving the illusion of it being a solid object.
