11 new build apartments successfully delivered in a Conservation Area for a private housing developer. The building is surrounded by gardens with car parking kept entirely beyond the original Victorian plot, avoiding having cars parked next to ground floor windows. Sited on a plot originally intended for a large Victorian villa in a leafy conservation area in Edinburgh, this apartment building has a form that matches the scale of a single villa while expressing its identity an apartment. Throughout the project we explored our architectural interest in simple forms which have recessed spaces hollowed from them. The corner terraces recede behind the building's envelope to form pockets of private space.
