Farm Shop and Tearoom

Murray Architects Ltd

Castleton Farm, south of Stonehaven is run as a mixed farm unit with an emphasis on the production of soft fruit both for supermarket and local consumption. To enhance the local connection a farm shop was required to enable direct sale of fresh farm produce to the public. The shop is formed as a steel portal truss construction to enable flexibility should change of layout be required. It accommodates both a farm produce shop and a highly popular tearoom and cafe. Clad in timber with a shallow pitched composite panel roof the building offers a pleasant internal environment with generous areas of glazing to provide views over the farm and wider rural landscape.
