Purchased as a derelict cottage in a very poor condition and recently used as an agricultural store a complete refurbishment was required with only the original stonework walls retained. The original cottage was utilized to accommodate three bedrooms, a bathroom and en-suite facilities. A substantial extension was added to accommodate living, dining and kitchen facilities. Considerable local planning restrictions necessitated the retention of the original window and door openings in the stone cottage. The extension however was expressed as a new build with timber cladding to reflect local vernacular outhouses. A glazed east wall in the living area takes advantage of impressive views over the landscape to the coast. Existing trees were retained with landscaping kept minimal to tie in with the surrounding agricultural topography.
