The Highlanders' Museum Redevelopment Project

McGregor Bowes

The Highlanders' Museum is located in an A-listed building within Fort George, a Scheduled Monument and one of the finest and best preserved historic military sites in Europe. McGregor Bowes acted as conservation architect, working with designers Studio SP, on the redevelopment project. A key aspect of the design is the restoration and reveal of the building's interior architecture, much of which remained long hidden behind displays and building services. The new showcases are located away from the walls and windows, allowing visitors to appreciate the room proportions and details.
