FetLor Youth Club

James Robertson Architect

Scotland’s oldest youth club operated from a 1960s concrete-framed, wooden hut, which had become dilapidated. The design of the ‘new’ club is based on the members’ desire for no obvious entrance – they did not want to be seen from outside – and an essentially secret space internally.

The clients sought a building quick to construct, economical, easily maintained and robust, on a tight budget. The internal space gives members and staff the functionality and character they wanted. The bespoke oak door, invisible from the street, offers a fun, but barred, view into the safe space.
