Extension to Stobieside House

Hypostyle Architects

Stobieside is a Grade-B listed Victorian house in the Scottish vernacular style. Hypostyle were asked to design a new extension to serve as a family room and redesign the old kitchen. The extension is designed, using traditional materials of buff sandstone walls, a leaded roof, with copious use of hardwood timber flooring. Full height glazed sliding doors and a large glazed corner window draw abundant natural daylight into this space A skylight is introduced to further lighten up the entire space and comfort is enhanced by the incorporation of a wood-burning stove with a finely controlled new central heating system.
