Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre

Hypostyle Architects

Competition winning design the Visitor Centre provides education on renewable and sustainable energy, whilst using sustainable methods within its own construction. It also acts as a base for the 82km network of walking and cycle paths around the site. An internal ïstreetÍ gives access to all zones. A shop-caf with an external viewing deck to one side with the circular Learning 'hub' and the ïdark boxÍ of the Exhibition Space to the other side. Positioned centrally on plan, the copper clad 'hub' rises through the building and roof while a glazed ridge allows daylight to flood into the ïstreetÍ and caf zones.
