Park Mains is an award winning secondary school for 1400 pupils with enhanced community leisure facilities for Renfrewshire Council. The strong grid pattern of orange/red facing brick panels is a unifying elevational treatment which contrasts with a curved wall of zinc that sweeps round to meet full height glazing of the School entrance that leads to the dramatic internal three storey atrium and social hub of the School. Informed by the Curriculum for Excellence, light wells interconnect between floors of teaching wings, developing a series of naturally lit break-out spaces adjacent to classrooms, facilitating different types of learning environment.
