St Kilda Viewpoint Visitor Centre - External Entrance View
The design reflects St Kilda's World Heritage Site status while responding sensitively to the site's National Scenic Area designation. It meets the considerable challenges of a remote, exposed site, demonstrating "best value" within a tight budget. Our proposals create a memorable visitor journey: sheltered approach through external interpretation space and a strong axial route culminating in a panoramic viewing gallery. While the bold geometry creates drama internally, the external form and materiality minimise visual impact from surrounding vantage points. Light touch pier foundations reduce on-site environmental impact and a pre-fabricated construction system reduces the build challenges of its exposed location.
