This new teaching block for the secondary school, accommodates four school departments including a large open plan art department. A degree of care in understanding and organising the accommodation delivered a simple and legible building form which resolved the complex briefing relationships. The building is split into two wings around an atrium, flooded with natural light. The atrium unifies the discreet elements of the building without fragmentation, and within a very rational plan creates a dynamic that brings the building to life. Externally the ordered elevation provides a suitably civic presence for the school onto the main thoroughfare.
