The first phase in the execution of our masterplan for the Maryhill Locks involves the creation of 35 houses and flats to allow the Botany residents to return to this site. A number of different house types and apartments were developed through a series of design workshops with the local community and the waiting list tenants. This detailed briefing and exploration of the difficult site specific topography allowed various spatial and plan form arrangements to be exploited to maximise sunlight and contact with the natural landscape. The project was awarded the Saltire Society Supreme Award for 2011.
