Works to a Grade A listed townhouse within the New Town Conservation Area and World Heritage Site involving internal alterations and replacement of the existing rear outhouse with a contemporary extension. The house refurbishment involved opening up the concealed stairway from ground floor entrance level leading to the basement level. At the basement level significant structural work was carried out to create an open plan kitchen/living which opens up to the new dining area within the new extension. The extension is a simple rectangular form which connects the two levels within the garden. A corner glazed window creates a visual connection to the higher patio area whilst the sliding folding doors provide access to the lower terrace.
