This development of 20 affordable houses has utilised to the full a narrow and difficult site, which was identified in an earlier study as having potential for only 10 units. The layout was dictated by the steep topography and the requirement to achieve full Barrier Free compliance for all units. The development provides 14 general needs houses, 4 flats and 2 wheelchair houses, one of which is designed for future conversion to two houses. Adopting a simple palette of colours and materials, the design is aimed at achieving a contemporary style based on traditional rural domestic architecture.
