Alterations and Extensions to Dwelling House, Appin
The Old Schoolhouse is a delightful stone building in the village of Port Appin but which had been neglected somewhat and was ready for modern refurbishment and extension.
The client wanted to extend the property in a couple of directions including one extension to take advantage of the stunning views over Loch Linnhe. Internally the ground floor of the property was to be significantly overhauled, particularly the kitchen, dining, utility and bathroom areas.
Due to the fact that the property had already been hap-haphazardly extended a number of times, the new extension had to be carefully designed to try and simplify the already cluttered roof shapes. Our solution was to remove some of the existing smaller roof structures and create a new slated pitched roof connecting the two wings of the existing building. The result was a stunning re-modelling and re-invention of the tired building into a bright and warming family home. The pictures show the property before and after work.
