Bohemian Hostel

AMCA Architects

The brief was to design a 100 metre tall tower containing a hostel to create a new landmark in Barcelona that includes relaxation areas and retail outlets catering for young people's fashion. The site chosen for the development is adjacent to the Plaza del MACBA, opposite the Museum of Contemporary Art designed by Richard Meier. The inspiration for the form and arrangement of the modular building was taken from the book Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafron. The apartments are stacked like books round the pure cylinder of the tower forming a beacon for visitors and travellers.
