Primark Princes Street

3D Reid

Primark's new flagship store provides over 70,000sqft of sales area across six floors. The design maximises active frontage and establishes a distinctive new presence within the retail core. With entrances to both Princes Street and Rose Street, a permeable floorplate promotes footfall between the two, bringing value deep into the site. 3DReid promoted a strategy which breaks down the mass of the development into three legible blocks. Elevations acknowledge feu patterns and building lines in James Craig's original plan for the New Town. Precast frames with deep reveals provide display opportunities whilst framing oblique views from the new town & to the old town. Distinctive treatments to both Princes Street and Rose Street facades aim to create a new landmark and a legible piece of city. A vibrant new flagship store will help reverse the decline in the reputation of Edinburgh City Centre as an exciting retail destination.
