The Demarco Archive and Gallery has been designed for art collector Richard Demarco. It is somewhere to house his vast collection of photographs and to allow him space to exhibit pieces from his art collection. The site for this proposal is at the southwest end of the Edinburgh Meadows. It is situated on a busy corner that connects Melville Drive and Buccleuch street. Given the sites dynamic location it was the perfect opportunity to design something that would be a landmark to link the dense urban landscape and the open plane of the meadows. With users approaching the site from different directions and differing landscapes this allowed for greater opportunity to create a journey through the surroundings and up into the building itself.
