Situated in Garnethill, Glasgow as a proposed extension to the Glasgow School of Art. The proposal aims to create a holistic approach to studying architecture by overlapping and intersecting the different aspects of the course. A large central atrium connects all levels of the school bringing light into the core, and removing visible barriers between each space. The circulation creates a journey through the building to increase social interaction among users.
The pavilion emulates the key aspects of the Glasgow School of Art, attracting the public through interaction, exhibitions and experience. A kinetic and adaptable exterior invites the public to use and interact with it, attracting them into the interior spaces. The form retains the existing public space whilst creating a focal point and gathering place. Portability of the design resulted in a series of Russian doll stacking timber sections designed for easy transport and construction.
