My brief was to design a performance space in Charing Cross that allowed for social interaction between fans and performers of different genres of music. Inspiration was to be taken from a specific song, album, playlist or genre.
I designed two contrasting gig venues for different genres of music, that were to be linked by shared social spaces. Each side of the building would have a different character, expressed through materials and orientation.
Accommodation was made for practice and recording in the shared social space, as all of these things are relevant to all types of music.
Plans and sections are carefully wrought. Elegant drawings communicate a well-considered response to the brief though the uncluttered spaces verge on the spartan.Judges’ Comments
