About the project
Attractive well maintained shop frontages assist in promoting good business for traders. In the historic Old Town of Edinburgh, part of the World Heritage Site, an historic shopfront, forming part of a Category A listed building located in the Lawnmarket, had fallen into disrepair and was failing to attract sufficient custom. With reference to good historic evidence, a sensitive restoration and conservation scheme was undertaken, with the benefit of grant assistance, to secure the future of the historic frontage. The improvements produced an increase in turnover of 10-15% in the first year following the works.
