Architect in the Hoose 2016
Registration for 2016 is now open AND to mark the year long, Scotland wide Festival of Architecture, the Scottish Government designated year of Architecture, Design and Innovation, and to celebrate the RIAS’ Centenary year, we will be running the scheme throughout 2016!
Our Patron, Carole Baxter a presenter on Scotland’s best known gardening programme, BBC’s Beechgrove Garden, commented:
‘I am delighted once again to support this brilliant scheme. Anyone considering renovating; extending or even building a new house should sign up! Architects across Scotland are giving up their time to help homeowners whilst raising money and awareness for a very worthy charity.’
After years of dithering over possibility of building a house on our land the first decisive step was made within one hour of an architect from the 'Architect in the Hoose Scheme' visiting our home. An excellent scheme that everyone benefits from.

The scheme is very simple and all contributions go to charity – architects across Scotland are offering hour-long consultations to the public in return for a £40 (bargain) donation to the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS). The ABS helps people of all ages who have experienced redundancy, illness, accident or bereavement. www.hoose.scot or email Charlene Rankin for more information firstname.lastname@example.org
We were planning to remodel our bathroom but weren't sure where to start as it is quite a small space. We signed up to Architect in the hoose and were matched with Trevor Black. Trevor came round and gave us some very useful advice regarding possible designs and the pros and cons of each, which has helped us to move forward with our ideas.
Architect in the Hoose Client 2015
'I was very pleased with the match up of architect to proposed work, the system was very efficient, the architect I met was very helpful and careful to use language for the layman and explained the procedure very well. It was a very good start to, hopefully, a very good result. A very positive way to find a good architect and at the same time contributing to a fund which will help other architects who are in need of some assistance.'
