New RIAS Awards Launched

In order to simplify and improve the awards process in Scotland, the RIAS Council, in agreement with the RIBA, has established a new, 'one-stop', submission process. Entries submitted will be eligible to win the new RIAS Awards, RIBA Awards for Scotland and RIBA Special Awards. Winners will also be eligible for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award and the RIBA Stirling Prize. Like the RIBA Awards for Scotland Scheme which operated up to 2011, we anticipate presenting a number of RIAS Awards each year. Only one submission and one entry fee is required.

As this is the first year of this new awards process, entrants should note that projects previously submitted for RIBA Awards in Scotland are not eligible. However, projects previously entered only for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Award in either 2010 or 2011 are eligible for the RIAS Awards 2012 although would not be put forward for the Doolan 2012 Award.

Winners of this RIAS Award, not previously entered for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Award, will automatically join the shortlist for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award 2012.

We have the pleasure to announce a new award sponsored by Wood for Good and Forestry Commission Scotland which will focus on the use of timber, further details to follow.

Deadline for hard copy entries is 5pm, Friday 24 February 2012.
