Scotland's Housing Expo Opens

Scotland's Housing Expo
10am - 6pm (8pm Thursdays)
1st - 31st August
Milton of Leys, near Inverness

Scotland’s Housing Expo at Milton of Leys near Inverness is now open, showcasing the winning designs submitted by architects across the country who entered a competition which was organised by the RIAS in 2007.

The challenge for the architects was to create design-led homes with a wholly sustainable philosophy. The result has been the creation of 52 diverse, unique and visionary interpretations of future living all set in an overall vision for community living created by masterplanner Johnny Cadell of Cadell2.  These homes are now on public display throughout August.

During the month-long Expo event the houses and their contents will form a platform for showcasing the wealth of Scottish design talent, including interior and product design. The initiative itself also provides a ‘test bed’ for construction and technological innovation, which will inform Scottish house building in the future. The houses will inspire developers to learn new skills and source fresh ideas to incorporate into future designs, while demonstrating how new building standards can be met on energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
